ABOUT THE PRACTITIONER
Ian grew up in Alaska. He graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks where he raced on the cross-country running and ski teams. Ian interned at the Swedish Winter Sports Research Centre in 2011, where he assisted in the physiology testing and research of elite endurance athletes. His passion for racing grew hand in hand with the constant process of perfecting the body’s endurance, mobility and recovery. Fascinated by fascia, muscle motor points and mobility, Ian studied acupuncture at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. After graduating with his Masters of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, in September 2016, Ian volunteered for a two-month residency in Nepal with the Acupuncture Relief Project, practicing primary care. In the past year and a half Ian practiced with the PT's at the Portland Athletic Center of Excellence adding needles to a team approach to physical medicine. His treatment style focuses on releasing muscle motor points, Myofascial trigger points to help the patient resolve old movement patterns and injuries.
